Holiday Events in Douglas County for the 2017 Holiday Season:
Holiday Carriage Rides – The Town of Parker has a yearly tradition of offering free holiday carriage rides to individuals of all ages! Enjoy this yearly tradition on the following Saturdays between Thanksgiving and Christmas: Friday, November 24, Saturday, November 25, Sunday, November 26. Tickets must be reserved, but they are FREE and LIMITED. For more information, please call (303) 805-3253.
Ice Skating at Rink at the Rock – From November 18, 2017 through February 19, 2018, enjoy outdoor ice skating at the Rink at the Rock. Please note that there is a fee for ice skating and ice skate rentals. Visit the Rink at the Rock website for more information and for open skate and holiday hours. The Rink at the Rock is a community recreational skating rink that is open to people of all ages.
DISCONTINUED – Spruce Mountain Christmas Tree Cutting – **All Slots for the 2017 Tree Cutting are FULL** Each year, there is an opportunity to cut down you own “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree in the Open Space on Spruce Mountain. The purpose of the event is to help thin overcrowded pine trees and Douglas firs on the mountain. The event includes a hike to the tree-cutting area. All trees must be approved by an accompanying Open Space volunteer before you cut it down. You must make a reservation and obtain a reserved tree permit to attend this event. Castle Rock Lighting of the Star – There will be ongoing activities from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm in Downtown Castle Rock on Saturday, November 18, 2017 which includes the Town’s annual Starlighting Ceremony. Many families have made their attendance at this event a yearly tradition. Holiday events have never been so much fun with activities that include live entertainers, a visit with Santa, non-profit booths, and more!
DISCONTINUED – Breakfast with Santa! – On December 16, 2017 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the Recreation Center at Eastridge, residents of Highlands Ranch are welcome to attend this fun Breakfast with Santa event! Breakfast includes pancakes, crafts, and letters to Santa. The cost is $11 per adult in advance, or $15 the day of the event (if it’s not sold out).
Santa Photos – Park Meadows Mall – Looking for Santa Claus? He will be at Park Meadows Mall, of course. From now through December 24, 2017, visit Park Meadows Mall (near Dillard’s) to get your child or family’s picture taken with Santa. If you do not want a photo, but you or your child simply wants to talk with Santa, a photo purchase is not required.
Tour the Highlands Ranch Mansion – Many holiday events in Douglas County are hosted at the Highlands Ranch Mansion. This year, the Highlands Ranch Metro District is sponsoring a FREE family-friendly holiday event on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. The event includes horse-drawn carriage rides, reindeer games, puppet shows, and tours of the Historic Mansion.
WinterFest 5K in Castle Rock – This event is a Celebration of the Winter Season! Festivities include a 5K, ice sculptures, food, beverages and vendors, and selfies with Santa. It will take place on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Festival Park – 300 2nd Street, Castle Rock, CO 80104.
The Nutcracker of Parker – It’s an annual tradition to attend the Nutcracker of Parker at the PACE Center. Show times are on Thursday, December 14, Friday, December 15, Saturday, December 16, and Sunday December 17. Make sure to purchase your tickets in advance!
DISCONTINUED – Breakfast with Santa at CU South (aka The Wildlife Experience) – Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at CU South/The Wildlife Experience for breakfast on December 2, 9, 16, and 23 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am! Don’t miss your chance to enjoy a delicious breakfast, take photos with Santa, make crafts, and your children can give their lists directly to Santa himself! Tickets are required.
Castle Rock Storytellers & S’Mores – On Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Festival Park, join members of the community for stories by the fire. Free s’mores will be provided. Don’t forget to bring a chair!
Holiday Tea at Cherokee Castle – Throughout the month of December, enjoy a festive afternoon at the historic Cherokee Castle. This popular annual holiday event includes holiday tea, festive food, and sweet treats. Bring your family and friends, and create lasting memories at this truly special holiday event. The Holiday Tea takes place on several dates during December. Tickets are required and typically sell out quickly.
